Recently, Community First reached the milestone of $550,000 in donations to the McGrath Foundation through our award winning McGrath Pink Visa Credit and Debit cards. This amazing achievement is because of the generosity of our members who hold the pink McGrath Visa credit and/or debit card each year.
To celebrate the milestone the McGrath Foundations Ambassador and Director Tracey Bevan joined us at our annual staff development day. Tracey shared a touching story about her friend Jane McGrath and highlighted the importance of the donations in the funding of breast care nurses. Breast care nurses are great support networks, who are placed in communities across Australia to help women and their families through the stages of breast cancer.
The McGrath Foundation raises money to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia as well as increasing breast awareness in young people, particularly young women. It costs approximately $390,000 to fund a McGrath Breast Care Nurse over a three-year period. The McGrath Foundation secures three years’ worth of funding before allocating funding for a role, to ensure consistency to a community over this timeframe.
