Visa payWave debit cards are now available

From the 1st May 2012, Community First will start to issue Visa Debit cards with payWave functionality. This will apply to all brand new, renewal and replacement cards.
|
What is Visa payWave?
| Visa PayWave is a simple, secure and quick payment method
for transactions up to $100. Utilising contactless technology, it
enables you to simply tap your card on the payWave terminal,
rather than ‘swiping or dipping’ your card. You do not need to
sign for your purchase or use your PIN to complete the
transaction. |

|
|
How will this affect the transactions I make?
| When you shop at places with contactless card terminals like McDonalds, 7-11, JB Hi-Fi, Bunnings and Caltex, you can simply
‘tap and go’ for transactions up to $100. That means greater convenience as you can complete the checkout process faster.
As it is a credit transaction, you will not be charged a
transaction fee. Shopping for everyday items has never been
easier. |

|
|
Is it safe?
|
Yes! Visa payWave-enabled cards are backed by Visa's Zero Liability Policy and are as secure as any other Visa chip card.
They carry the same multiple layers of security, which ensures that you are not responsible for fraudulent or unauthorised transactions.
Visa payWave cards only work when the card is within 5cm of the card reader and the retailer must have first entered the amount. Additionally, the payWave terminal can only process one transaction at a time. As your Visa payWave card doesn't leave your hand during the transaction, you remain in control of your card at all times.
